About DM DESK
DM DESK is an AI front desk for local businesses and online stores that answers Instagram DMs and website chat, including after hours and in six languages, from your real products or menu, prices, hours and policies, builds the order or cart in chat, and sends customers to your own checkout. It was founded by Rami Tannous, built first for Rami's own businesses and ventures, and is built and supported in the Bay Area.
Why DM DESK exists.
DM DESK started as the front desk for Rami Tannous's own businesses and ventures. Messages kept coming in while the team was busy, and the ones that waited too long went somewhere else.
So Rami built a front desk that answers every message, knows the real prices, and hands anything sensitive to the owner. Now other local businesses and online stores can use it too.
What it does today.
- Answers Instagram DMs and website chat, including after hours.
- Replies in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic or Tagalog, in whichever one your customer writes or speaks.
- Takes voice orders on website chat. The customer taps the mic and says the order.
- Builds the order or cart in chat and sends customers to your own checkout: a filled cart on Shopify, a Square checkout, or your Toast or DoorDash ordering page.
- Checks live stock on Shopify and never offers a sold out size or color.
- Sends leads, booking and quote requests to you, with an alert by email and in the app.
- Continues an Instagram conversation on your website: when your agent sends a customer a link to your website in a DM and they tap it, your website chat picks up the same conversation, so they don't have to start over. On Pro with the second channel, Growth and Custom, when both Instagram and website chat are connected. It isn't included on Starter.
How it stays honest and safe.
You can set up DM DESK yourself, or with us on a free 30 minute setup call. During the founding launch, every plan includes the call. On the call, we import your products or menu, connect your channels and set your rules with you. Either way, we review your setup before DM DESK answers a customer.
- Upfront that it's AI. On website chat the opening message says "Hello, you're chatting with the AI assistant for [your business]" before the customer types.
- Prices come from your products or menu, never the AI. If it isn't on file, it doesn't guess.
- Allergies, complaints and anything sensitive go straight to you. It never says an order is placed, promises a refund or confirms a booking time on its own.
- When a customer describes a medical emergency, it is built to tell them to call 911 first and to send the chat to you as urgent.
- Our AI providers work under commercial terms that do not allow training on your data.
- DM DESK does not sell personal information.
- DM DESK has no card form. Customers pay on your own checkout. No commission, no per order fee.

What does it work with?
