SMS Terms

DM DESK texts alerts to business owners and their staff who ask for them. The program is called DM Desk Account Alerts. It is only for people who use DM DESK for their business, never for their customers, and never for marketing.

1. How you opt in

Signed in to DM DESK, an owner or manager opens Settings, then Alerts, enters a mobile number, checks the box below it, and saves. The box is never checked in advance, and it has to be checked before a number can be saved. We text a number only after that, and we keep a record of when it was checked, the wording shown, and the IP address and browser used. This is the form as it appears there:

We text this number when a customer wants a person, when new messages come in, and when a customer is about to call in an order. To stop, uncheck the box or clear the number and save, or reply STOP to any text.

2. What we text

Right after you opt in, one confirmation:

DM Desk: You're signed up for account alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

Then alerts about your own business, such as a customer about to call in an order:

DM Desk: Tacos El Sol: Maria may call to order, no online checkout yet. 2x Carne asada taco, 1x Horchata. Total $12.50. dm-desk.com/inbox/…

When a customer wants to talk to a person:

DM Desk: Tacos El Sol: Maria wants to talk to a person. Open the chat to reply: https://www.dm-desk.com/inbox/3f2b8c1e-5a7d-4c9e-9b1f-2d6e8a4c7b10

When a new message comes in:

DM Desk: Tacos El Sol: new message from Maria on Instagram. Open the chat: https://www.dm-desk.com/inbox/3f2b8c1e-5a7d-4c9e-9b1f-2d6e8a4c7b10

If you choose at most one text every 15 minutes, messages that arrive in between come as one summary:

DM Desk: Tacos El Sol: 4 new messages. Open your inbox: https://www.dm-desk.com/inbox

Each alert links to the conversation in your DM Desk inbox, and you reply to the customer there. A text back to us is not sent to the customer.

If you reply STOP:

DM Desk: You're unsubscribed and will not receive more texts. Reply START to resubscribe.

Nothing is sent after that. If you reply START:

DM Desk: You're resubscribed to account alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

If you reply HELP:

DM Desk: For help, email hello@dm-desk.com. Reply STOP to opt out.

3. SMS Terms

  • Program name: DM Desk Account Alerts.
  • Description: Alerts about new customer messages, order inquiries, reservation requests, and conversations needing a human reply. Texts go only to business owners and staff who add their mobile number in DM DESK and check the text alerts box. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
  • Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to cancel at any time. Reply HELP for help, or email hello@dm-desk.com.
  • Our replies, word for word:
    • STOP: “DM Desk: You're unsubscribed and will not receive more texts. Reply START to resubscribe.”
    • START: “DM Desk: You're resubscribed to account alerts. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.”
    • HELP: “DM Desk: For help, email hello@dm-desk.com. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • How we handle your mobile number is described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Your privacy

We use your mobile number only to send the alerts you asked for. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and your opt in data and consent are never shared with any third party. Read the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service.
