Website chat on any website
Add the DM DESK chat to any website with one line of code.
Steps
- In DM DESK, open Channels and click Turn on in the Website chat card.
- Open Paste the code yourself and click Copy code.
- Paste the line into your site's code, in the head or just before the closing body tag, then save or publish your site.
- Open your site and check that the chat button shows. Once you're live, ask it a question.
- Back in Channels, the Website chat card shows Widget seen on, with your site's address.
- Optional: under Website chat greeting, set the greeting bubble, its text, quick tap chips and when it shows, then click Save.
Good to know
- Before you go live, your agent doesn't answer on your site or Instagram yet. Until then, use the typed test on Test your agent.
- Starter includes one channel: website chat or Instagram DMs.
- On Starter, your chat always shows a small Powered by DM DESK credit. On Pro and Growth it shows unless you turn it off on Channels.
- Some website builders let you add code only on paid plans. Square Online, Wix and Squarespace have their own video.
- On WordPress, the plugin adds the chat with no code.

In DM DESK, open Channels.
On the Website chat card, click Turn on.
Then open Paste the code yourself. On WordPress, our plugin has its own video.
Click Copy code to copy your line.
Paste it into your site's code, in the head or just before the closing body tag.

Then save or publish your site the way you usually do.
Now open your site. The chat button shows in the bottom right corner.
Open it. The chat starts by saying it's the business's AI assistant.
Ask it something a customer would.
Send it.
Once you're live, it answers from what you taught it, here your hours.
Back in DM DESK, open Channels again.
The Website chat card now shows the site where your chat was seen.
Under Website chat greeting, you can turn on a greeting bubble, write its text and pick quick tap chips.
Choose how long it waits before it shows, then click Save.
